How to convert a PDF to Excel

  1. Choose the PDF.
  2. Check the preview: each line of the page becomes a row, and the columns are found from the gaps in the text.
  3. Download the Excel file (one sheet per page, or all in one) or a CSV.

Works best with

  • PDFs made by a program: statements, invoices, price lists, reports and exports, with tables laid out in clear columns.
  • Amounts like $1,200.00, €99 or (25.00) become real numbers (1200, 99 and −25) that Excel can add up. Codes with leading zeros, such as 0012, stay text.
  • Numbers written 1.234,56 (decimal comma): tick the option and they are read correctly too.

Limits

  • Scanned PDFs are pictures without text: run them through OCR PDF first, then convert the result here.
  • A cell whose text wraps onto two lines becomes two rows, and merged cells end up in one column. Check the result in the preview.
  • Ruling lines, colors, charts and pictures aren't copied: only the text and numbers.

Your files stay on your device

Everything happens in your browser. Your PDFs are never uploaded, and this site's security policy blocks the page from sending files anywhere.

Why are some columns joined or split?

Columns are found from the empty space between texts. When two columns are very close, or a long text crosses into the next column, they can be joined. Ticking "Only table rows" leaves out titles and notes, which often helps.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

Remove the password first with Unlock PDF (you need to know it), then convert the unlocked copy.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. It is read in your browser and never sent anywhere.
