Compression re-encodes the image at a lower quality. Compressed images don't keep metadata such as GPS location. Processed entirely in your browser.

How to compress an image
- Choose one or more images.
- Pick a quality (75 is a good start), or switch to "Target file size" and enter a size in KB.
- Press Compress.
- Compare the original and new sizes, then download the images one by one or as a ZIP.
How the compression works
- JPG, WebP and AVIF are re-saved at the quality you choose. Lower quality gives smaller files.
- PNG files are reduced to up to 256 colors (with transparency kept), which often makes them 60–80% smaller. You can turn this off.
- Target file size finds the highest quality that fits your size, for JPG, WebP and AVIF output. If even the lowest quality is too big, the image is also made smaller (fewer pixels) until it fits, and the result says so.
- If an image can't be made smaller, the original is kept instead of giving you a bigger file.
- Optionally, large images can be scaled down under Advanced Options, which saves the most space.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Everything happens locally in your browser. Your images are never uploaded, so even private photos stay on your device.
সাধারণ প্রশ্ন
How much smaller will my images get?
It depends on the image. Photos saved by phones and cameras often shrink by 50–80% at quality 75 without a visible difference. Images that are already compressed shrink less.
Does compression reduce quality?
JPG, WebP and AVIF compression is lossy: a lower quality setting removes detail you usually don't notice. PNG color reduction is also lossy. Use a higher quality setting if you see a difference.
Can I compress an image to a specific size, like 200 KB?
Yes. Choose "Target file size", enter the size in KB, and the tool picks the best quality that fits. When quality alone isn't enough (very large photos and small targets), it also reduces the width and height until the file fits, and shows the new size.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The compression runs on your device in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Does compressing remove metadata?
Yes. Compressed images are new files that don't include metadata such as GPS location or camera details.
