How to add Bates numbers

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Set the prefix, the first number, the number of digits and the position.
  3. Press Add Bates numbers and download.

Numbering several documents

To continue a series, start the next document at the number after the last page of the previous one. The page tells you the first and last number of each file.

Good to know

  • Prefix and suffix are optional (for example a case name or a party's initials).
  • Numbers are padded with zeros to the number of digits you choose: 6 digits gives ABC000001.
  • The stamp is real text, so it can be found with search.
  • Confidential client files stay on your computer: nothing is uploaded.

What is Bates numbering?

A way to give every page in a set of legal documents its own number, so any page can be identified and referred to.

Can I number only some pages?

Yes. Choose "Selected pages" and pick them.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. It is processed in your browser and never sent anywhere.
