How to open a Word document without Word
- Choose the .docx, .doc, .odt or .rtf file.
- Read the document: headings, lists, tables, bold and italic are kept.
- Need the text elsewhere? Use Word to Text or Word to Markdown.
Good to know
- The document is shown as readable text, not as printed pages: fonts, colours, headers, footers and the page layout are not reproduced.
- Pictures from DOCX, ODT and RTF files are shown; old .doc files show their text and tables.
- Macros in .docm and .doc files are never run.
- Password-protected Word files can't be opened here.
