Good to know
- Timing and text are kept, and so are italic and bold where the target format has them. SBV, LRC and plain text have no styling.
- ASS and SSA styles, positions and effects can't be carried into other formats; the words and times are. Converting to ASS gives a clean file with one readable style.
- TTML times in frames or ticks are converted using the frame and tick rate in the file.
- To move all subtitles earlier or later, or fix a frame-rate drift, use the Subtitle Time Shifter. It keeps ASS styles untouched.
Domande frequenti
Which format does a website video need?
WebVTT (.vtt): it is the format for the HTML <track> element.
How do I make subtitles if I have none?
Write them in any text editor as an SRT file (a number, a time line such as 00:00:01,000 --> 00:00:04,000, then the text, with a blank line between subtitles), or export them from your video editor. Then convert, shift or burn them in here.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser.
