Privacy

Short version: your files never leave your device.

What happens to your files

When you choose a file, it is read and processed by code running inside your own browser. The result is created on your device and saved by your browser when you press Download. Your files are not uploaded to our server or to anyone else's, and no processing happens on a server or in the cloud.

This applies to every tool on this site: images, videos, PDFs, file checks and text. Text you paste into a text tool is processed the same way and is never sent anywhere.

How this is enforced

Every page comes with a security rule (a Content Security Policy) that tells your browser not to let the page send anything anywhere: no uploads and no hidden connections. The page can only load its own code and images from this website. You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab and use any tool. You will see no upload.

Some tools download a little extra code from this website the first time you use them, such as the code that reads PDF pages. It runs on your device and never sends your files anywhere.

The Image Upscaler's AI model

The Image Upscaler uses a small AI model (about 3 MB). It is downloaded from this website the first time you use its AI option and runs inside your browser, like the rest of the site: your pictures are not sent to an AI service or anywhere else, and the same security rule applies.

What we don't do

  • We don't store your files. We never receive them.
  • We don't have user accounts and don't ask for personal information.
  • We don't use analytics services, advertising or tracking scripts, and we don't set cookies for visitors. (The site's owner signs in to the blog's editing pages with one cookie that is sent only to those pages.)
  • We don't send your files or their contents to any other company or online service.
  • We don't load fonts, scripts or images from other websites.

What is stored in your browser

A few small choices are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them: your theme (light or dark), where the menu sits and whether the sidebar is expanded, narrow or hidden, your favorite tools and the last 8 tools you opened, words you add to the Grammar Checker's dictionary, and the emojis you used last in the Emoji Picker. Favorites and recent tools are stored as tool names only (such as "pdf-merger"), never files, file names or text. None of this leaves your device. You can clear it on the Settings page, where Clear this site's data removes everything the site saved in this browser at once.

How we count visitors

To know how many people use the site, our own server counts page visits as they are requested. For each visit it adds one to that day's total and to the page's total, and notes the name of the website a visitor came from (such as "google.com"), if any. To count how many different people visited in a day without storing who they are, the server mixes the visitor's IP address and browser type with a random secret that changes every day, through a one-way calculation, and marks one spot in a list of numbers. The IP address itself is never saved, and once the day ends its secret is thrown away, so nothing can link a visit back to a person or to their visits on other days.

This uses no cookies and no scripts in your browser, and nothing is shared with any other company. Visits from search engine robots and link previews are not counted. It never involves your files.

What our web server sees

Like almost every website, the server that delivers these pages may keep standard access logs: the address (IP) of the device requesting a page, the page requested, the time and the browser type. These logs are kept by the hosting provider for security and troubleshooting. They never contain your files or anything inside them.
