How to make a URL slug
- Paste your titles, one per line.
- Pick the separator and whether to leave out small words.
- Copy a single slug, or all of them at once.
What it does
- Lowercases the title and joins the words with hyphens: "10 Tips for Better Headlines" → "10-tips-for-better-headlines".
- Turns accented letters into plain ones (é → e, ü → u, ß → ss, æ → ae), "&" into "and", and drops apostrophes ("don't" → "dont").
- Removes punctuation and symbols, and never leaves double or trailing hyphens.
- Can leave out small words (a, the, of, and…) for shorter slugs, and cut long slugs at a whole word.
Tips for good slugs
- Keep them short and descriptive: three to five meaningful words.
- Use hyphens, not underscores: search engines read hyphens as spaces.
- Don't put dates or numbers you may change later into a slug.

Should a slug include stop words?
It is fine either way. Leaving them out makes slugs shorter; keep them if the slug reads oddly without.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Slugs are made in your browser.
