How to format XML
- Paste your XML, open a file, or try the example.
- Choose readable or small, and the indentation.
- Copy or download the result. If the XML has a mistake, the exact line and column are shown.
What is checked
- Every tag is closed, in the right order, with one root element.
- Attribute values are quoted and not repeated, and contain no "<".
- Every "&" starts a valid entity such as & or ©.
- Comments, CDATA sections and the XML declaration are well-formed and in the right place.
Your content stays exactly the same
Only the whitespace between tags changes. Text inside an element is never touched, and elements that mix text and tags (like <p>Some <b>bold</b> text</p>) are kept exactly as written, because extra spaces there would change the content. This checks that XML is well-formed; it does not validate against a schema (XSD or DTD).
Maswali yanayoulizwa mara kwa mara
Can I format SVG files?
Yes. SVG is XML, so you can tidy it up here. For making SVGs smaller, the SVG Optimizer does more.
Is my XML uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and the page is blocked from uploading anything.
