Your Word document is ready
The text, headings, lists, bold and italic, alignment and pictures are kept. Complex layouts (columns side by side, tables, text boxes) come out as plain paragraphs, so check the document before you use it.

How to convert a PDF to Word
- Choose your PDF.
- Keep or change the options (pictures, page breaks, scanned pages).
- Press Convert to Word and download the .docx file.
What is kept
- Paragraphs, joined back together across lines (also words split with a hyphen).
- Headings, recognised from larger text, so Word's navigation pane works.
- Bulleted and numbered lists, with hanging indents.
- Bold and italic text, fonts and text sizes.
- Centered, right-aligned and justified paragraphs.
- Pictures, in their place between the paragraphs.
- Filled-in form fields, as text.
What to check afterwards
- A PDF stores where each piece of text is drawn, not paragraphs or tables, so the layout is worked out again. Simple documents (letters, reports, articles, contracts) come out well.
- Tables become text with tabs between the columns; text boxes and columns side by side become ordinary paragraphs.
- Page numbers and headers or footers that repeat on every page are left out (you can keep them).
Scanned PDFs
Pages that are pictures of text (scans and phone photos) have no text to take out. They can be read with the site's own text recognition (OCR) in 10 languages, or added to the document as pictures. OCR takes a few seconds per page.
Your PDF stays on your device
Everything happens in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded, and this site's security policy blocks the page from sending files anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
Close, but not always exactly. The text, headings, lists and pictures are kept and can be edited. Complex layouts with tables, columns or text boxes come out as plain paragraphs, so check the document before you use it.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. Scanned pages are read with OCR, or added as pictures if you prefer.
Can I convert Word to PDF here?
Not yet. Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice can all save a document as PDF for free (File › Save As or Download › PDF).
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. It is processed in your browser and never sent anywhere.
