How to convert Word to text
- Choose a .docx file.
- Pick Plain text or Markdown.
- Copy the result or download it.
What is kept
- Paragraphs and headings, in order.
- Bulleted and numbered lists, with their real numbering (1., a), i. and so on).
- Tables, one row per line with tabs between cells.
- Links, with the address after the link text.
Left out
- Images, text boxes, headers, footers, footnotes and comments.
- Deleted text from tracked changes (inserted text is kept).
- Older .doc files: save them as .docx in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice first.
Your document stays on your device
Everything happens in your browser. Your document is never uploaded, and this site's security policy blocks the page from sending files anywhere.
