How to make a color palette
- Pick a base color and a rule, such as complementary or triadic.
- Or press Random palette, locking colors you want to keep.
- Copy the hex codes, export CSS or SCSS, or download a PNG.
The rules
| Rule | What it gives |
|---|---|
| Analogous | Neighboring hues: calm and harmonious |
| Complementary | Opposite hues: strong contrast |
| Split complementary | One hue and the two beside its opposite: contrast with less tension |
| Triadic | Three hues evenly spaced: lively and balanced |
| Tetradic | Four hues: rich, best with one leading color |
| Shades | One hue from dark to light: simple and consistent |

Is the text on my palette readable?
Each swatch shows its code in black or white, whichever contrasts more. For text colors, check pairs with the Contrast Checker.
Is anything sent anywhere?
No. The calculation happens in your browser, and your colors never leaves your device.
