How to convert CSV to JSON

  1. Paste your CSV or JSON, or open a file.
  2. Check the options: separator, column names, number conversion.
  3. Copy the result or download it.

Good to know

  • The separator (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe) is detected automatically.
  • Quoted values, quotes inside values and line breaks inside cells are handled correctly.
  • Numbers and true/false become real JSON values; values like 007 and very long numbers stay text so nothing is lost.
  • JSON to CSV flattens nested objects (address.city) and makes a download that opens correctly in Excel, accents included.
  • For Excel files, save them as CSV first (File › Save As › CSV UTF-8).

Can I convert an Excel file directly?

Not .xlsx files. Save the sheet as CSV in Excel or Google Sheets first; that takes a few seconds.

Why do my European CSV files work?

Files with semicolons (common where the comma is the decimal separator) are detected automatically.
