What is drop-frame timecode?
29.97 and 59.94 fps video runs slightly slower than 30 and 60 fps. Drop-frame timecode skips frame numbers 00 and 01 (00–03 at 59.94) at the start of every minute, except every tenth minute, so the timecode stays in step with the clock. No video frames are dropped, only numbers. It is written with a semicolon before the frames: 00:01:00;02.

How to use it
- Pick the frame rate of your project.

- Or add and subtract timecodes, for example to total the length of clips.
Drop-frame timecode
At 29.97 and 59.94 fps, drop-frame timecode skips frame numbers 00 and 01 (00–03 at 59.94) at the start of each minute, except every tenth minute, so the timecode matches the clock. It is written with a semicolon: 00:10:00;00. Non-drop-frame timecode counts every frame and drifts about 3.6 seconds per hour from the clock.
