How to get a thumbnail from a video
- Choose a video.
- Move the position slider, or step one frame at a time, to the moment you want.
- Press Capture this frame, capture 6 evenly spaced frames, or extract a frame every few seconds, then download.
Supported videos
Any video your browser can play: MP4 (H.264) and WebM work in all modern browsers. MOV, MKV and HEVC (H.265) videos work only where the browser supports their codecs.
Image quality
Frames are saved at the video's full resolution. PNG is lossless; JPG and WebP give smaller files.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Your video is processed locally in your browser and never leaves your device. This site has no upload feature, and its security policy blocks the page from uploading anything.

Why is my video not opening?
Your browser cannot play its codec. Try Chrome, Edge or Safari, or convert the video to MP4 (H.264) with a desktop app first.
Can I get the exact frame I want?
Yes. Use Previous frame and Next frame to step through the video, then capture.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video plays from your device inside the page; no part of it is sent anywhere.
