How to split a video
- Choose your video.
- Pick parts of a length (for example 30 seconds), a number of equal parts, or the times to split at.
- Press Split and download the parts, one by one or as a ZIP.
Ways to split
- Parts of a length: 15, 30, 60 or 90 seconds, 3 or 10 minutes, or any length you type.
- Equal parts: 2 to 200.
- At chosen times: type them, or play the video and add the current position.
Fast or exact
- Fast copies the video without re-encoding. Parts begin at key frames, so with "parts of a length" each part ends at the last key frame that keeps it within the length: never longer than you chose, sometimes a little shorter.
- Exact splits at the exact times and re-encodes.
- If the video's key frames are farther apart than the part length, Fast can't split that finely and the page says so.
Good to know
- Opens MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV; the parts keep the same format.
- As many parts as you like.
- Exact cuts use your browser's built-in video technology: best in current Chrome and Edge, and recent Safari and Firefox versions.
