How to join split files

  1. Choose all the parts at once (in any order).
  2. Check that no part is missing.
  3. Join them and download the file.

What it joins

  • Numbered parts such as photos.zip.001, photos.zip.002… (made by this site's Split ZIP, 7-Zip and other file splitters): put back together byte for byte, giving the original file.
  • Separate ZIP parts such as photos-part01-of05.zip: their files are put into one ZIP, copied exactly as they are.
  • The parts are put in order by their numbers. Missing parts, parts chosen twice and parts from another file are pointed out before joining.
  • When the joined file is a ZIP, it is checked: you see how many files it holds, or a warning if it can't be read.

Good to know

  • Spanned ZIPs from WinZip (photos.z01, photos.z02… and photos.zip) are a different format: open them with 7-Zip or WinRAR.
  • The parts are joined in your browser without loading them all into memory, so even very large files work.

How do I open a .001 file?

A .001 file is the first piece of a file that was split into parts. Choose it here together with the .002, .003 and other parts and press Join: you get the original file back, often a ZIP you can then open.

A part is missing. Can I still join them?

No: every part is needed, because each one holds a piece of the file. Ask whoever sent them for the missing part.
