How to inspect a PowerPoint
- Choose the presentation.
- Read the report: size, pictures, fonts, properties, links and identical slides.
- Download it as text, or the picture list as a spreadsheet.
What the report shows
- Slides, hidden slides, slide size, sections, slide masters and layouts (including layouts no slide uses), speaker notes, comments, macros and digital signatures.
- What takes the space: pictures, videos, sounds, embedded fonts, embedded files and the slides themselves, and the largest parts of the file.
- Every picture with its format, pixel size, the slides it is on and its effective resolution where it is shown largest, with a note when it has far more pixels than needed or too few.
- Fonts named by the theme and on the slides, and which are embedded in the file.
- Document properties (author, company, dates, custom properties), web links and linked files that live outside the presentation.
- Slides with identical content and files stored more than once.
Good to know
The presentation is only read; nothing in it is changed. Sizes are the space each part takes inside the file, which is what decides the file size.

Mga madalas itanong
Why is my PowerPoint file so big?
Usually because of photos with far more pixels than the slides show, videos, or embedded fonts. The report lists what takes the space; the PowerPoint Compressor fixes the pictures.
What is "effective resolution"?
The picture's pixels per inch at the size it is shown on the slide. About 150 ppi looks sharp on screens, 220–330 ppi in print. Much more only makes the file bigger.
Can I use an old .ppt file?
No. The old PowerPoint 97–2003 format (.ppt) is a different kind of file. Open it in PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides or LibreOffice Impress, save it as .pptx, then use that file. To just look at a .ppt, use the PowerPoint Viewer.
Is my presentation uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device.
