How to view a video's metadata

  1. Choose or drop a video file.
  2. Check the privacy summary for location or device details.
  3. Read the full list of container metadata, grouped by where it is stored.
  4. To clean it, open the Video Metadata Remover.

What the viewer can show

Large videos are read in small pieces, so even multi-gigabyte files open quickly.

  • MP4 and MOV: location (for example from iPhones and Android phones), device make and model, operating system version, creation dates, encoder and titles.
  • Telemetry tracks, such as GPS data recorded by action cameras.
  • WebM and MKV: title, application, date, tags and attachments.
  • AVI: INFO tags such as title, artist, software and date.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Your video is processed locally in your browser and never leaves your device.

Do videos contain GPS location?

Often, yes. iPhones and many Android phones store the location where a video was recorded in the file's metadata, and action cameras may record a full GPS track.

Which formats are supported?
