How to decode Base64

  1. Paste the Base64 text or a data: URL.
  2. Text appears straight away. If the data is a file, its type is recognised and shown.
  3. Copy the text, or download the file.

What it accepts

  • Standard and URL-safe Base64, with or without = padding.
  • Line breaks and spaces anywhere (as in emails and PEM files).
  • data: URLs such as data:image/png;base64,…
  • Mistakes are pointed out: a character that isn't Base64, or a length that can't be right.

How do I know if it is text or a file?

The decoder checks whether the bytes are valid UTF-8 text. If not, it looks at the first bytes to recognise the file type (PNG, PDF, ZIP and many more) and offers a download.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, and the page is blocked from uploading anything.
