How to decode a URL

  1. Paste the encoded URL or text.
  2. Turn on + as space if it comes from a form or query string.
  3. Copy the decoded result.

Good to know

  • Characters are decoded as UTF-8, the encoding used by the web.
  • Invalid sequences, such as a % that is not followed by two hexadecimal digits, are reported instead of being silently changed.
  • Use the result as new input to decode text that was encoded twice.

Why does decoding fail?

The text contains a % sign that is not part of a valid encoded character, or an incomplete UTF-8 sequence. Check that the text was copied completely.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Everything runs locally.
