How to equalize audio
- Choose an audio or video file.
- Pick a preset or move the sliders; the curve shows the change.
- Download the result.
Presets
| Preset | What it does |
|---|---|
| Voice clarity | Removes rumble, takes boom out of the low mids and lifts presence, so speech is easier to understand |
| Bass boost | More low end for music on small speakers |
| Less bass | Tames boomy rooms and close-up microphones |
| Treble boost | Brighter sound for dull recordings |
| Warmer, less harsh | Softens sharp, tinny recordings |
| Remove rumble only | Cuts wind, traffic and handling noise below 80 Hz |
Good to know
- Five bands: bass (60 Hz), low mids (230 Hz), mids (910 Hz), presence (3.6 kHz) and air (14 kHz), each from −12 to +12 dB.
- Boosts are followed by a gentle limiter, so the result doesn't distort.
- Video files keep their picture as it is; only the sound is changed.
- For hiss and hum in speech, Remove Background Noise works better than an equalizer.
