How to convert Excel to JSON
- Choose an .xlsx, .xlsm or .ods file.
- Pick the sheet and the JSON layout.
- Download the JSON, or copy it.
JSON layouts
- List of objects: the first row gives the names, for example [{"Name": "Ann", "Age": 34}].
- List of rows: every row as an array, including the first.
- Empty first-row cells are named "Column 3" and so on; repeated names get "(2)".
Values
- Numbers stay numbers, TRUE/FALSE become true/false, empty cells become null.
- Dates become text like "2024-03-01".
- Values are what the spreadsheet app last calculated.
