How to convert YAML to JSON
- Choose the direction: YAML to JSON or JSON to YAML.
- Paste your text, open a file, or try the example.
- Copy or download the result.
Good to know
- A file with several YAML documents (separated by ---) becomes a JSON array.
- YAML comments are not part of JSON, so they are left out of the JSON.
- Values such as .inf and .nan have no JSON equivalent and become null; the page points this out.
- YAML follows version 1.2, so yes, no, on and off stay text instead of turning into true and false.
- Very deeply nested aliases ("billion laughs") are stopped to keep your browser responsive.
Frequently asked questions
Why did "yes" not become true?
In YAML 1.2, which this converter follows, only true and false are booleans. Older YAML 1.1 tools also turned yes, no, on and off into booleans, which caused surprises such as the country code NO becoming false.
Is my data uploaded?
