How to use the scientific calculator
- Type a calculation, such as 2(3 + 4)^2 − sin 30, or use the keys.
- Choose degrees or radians for trigonometry.
- Press = or Enter to keep the answer in the history; "Ans" uses the last answer.
Order of operations
Brackets first, then powers (right to left, so 2^3^2 = 2^9), then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. A number next to a bracket or a constant is multiplied: 2π, 3(4 + 1). −2^2 is −4, as in maths.
What you can type
- + − × ÷ (or * and /), ^ for powers, ! for factorials, % for percent
- sin, cos, tan, asin, acos, atan, sinh, cosh, tanh
- sqrt or √, cbrt, ln, log (base 10), log2, exp, abs, round, floor, ceil
- pi or π, e, and ans for the previous answer
Frequently asked questions
How precise are the answers?
Results are shown to 12 significant digits, which is more than a typical handheld calculator. Tiny floating-point leftovers are cleaned up, so sin 180° shows as 0.
Is anything sent anywhere?
No. The calculation happens in your browser, and your calculations never leaves your device.
